The Joy of a "New" Toy!

I remembered how much fun Ayden had with this toy and thought that I might as well pull it out of the storage and see if Gabriel likes it as well. It is one of those cause and effect toys where they kick the paddle (by his feet) and the toy makes sounds, lights up and moves. (you can check it out in the video below). I don't think he gets this all just yet, but it was still fun for him to watch the toy go!

An Art Festival Outing

We went to a fun art festival in down town Raleigh last weekend. It was one of those usual festivals with art you can buy, food stands and live entertainment. Here is Ayden getting his face painted. Of course I couldn't convince him to get a nice animal or something, it was either the spider or some alien face. :)

Imitation is always flattery? :)

With all this attention that we are giving to Gabriel since babies have to be held a lot of the time, Ayden has become interested in playing a part. He wanted to wear the Baby Bjorn and put Gabriel in it, but his dog Kody made a nice alternative.
You can barely see it, but there is a little stuffed bear strapped in the baby seat. Ayden wanted to use Gabriel's car seat to take care of his "baby" also and he even put a blanket draped on top of it (like I do when Gabriel is sleeping in public). He told me to be quiet because his bear is sleeping. I wasn't aware that he was paying this much attention to what I've been doing to take care of the baby. :)

Strawberry Picking!

One day while driving around our area to get the kids to stay asleep in the car, I happened upon a strawberry farm where you can pick your own berries. I thought to myself that this would make a fun weekend outing, so here we are...
My attempt at creative photography. :)
Another one...

We ended up with so many fresh strawberries that would go bad pretty quickly, so we decided to make some strawberry shortcake. It was very yummy!

Brothers

Ayden is still doing pretty well with Gabriel...always wanting to kiss him and hold him. He has the occasional comment towards his brother for getting so much attention and we'll see if this good attitude towards him keeps up now that he doesn't have all the constant grandparent attention everyday. :)
Ayden loved posing for this shot. I of course couldn't get them both to look at the camera at the same time. :)

Gabriel's First Smile!!

Gabriel started smiling in response to us between weeks 2 and 3, but I didn't catch one on camera until just today! It seems like just the other day that I was scrapbooking Ayden's first smile and it is also crazy how much they look alike as infants.

Our Block Party!

We co-hosted a block party with our neighbors, Dustin and Katherine last Sunday, May 4th. It was a huge success, we had over thirty people attend and the kids all had a great time too! The community in the neighborhood is finally taking off!
We pulled the BBQ's into the front yard and put tables in the middle of the street. It worked since our street is a small one that you can avoid driving through. :)
The older kids had fun pulling the younger kids in the wagon...it was so cute.

Gabriel is one month old!

Where has the time gone, he is over a month old now! We know he's growing quite a bit since he has moved up in diapers already and has been eating quite a bit. Here he is enjoying a nap on the front porch with Granny in his cute outfit (thanks to the Gjovig's ) :)
